Mormon Church, Tai Wai
Here’s a place I pass everyday on the train. I always wondered if it was some private villa owned by someone very rich and I guess, in a way, I was right because it turns out to be owned by the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Funny thing is, despite it being absolutely immaculate and spotless I have never ever ever seen anyone in or around the property. Which leads me to believe that the Mormon church is in fact a front for a nefarious group of daylight-hating vampires. Bear that in mind the next time you are approached by a spotty adolescent American youth dressed in a suit AND wearing a backpack at the same time…
Just kidding, despite their totally annoying habit of crossing the street just so they can say “Hi” to you, these guys speak pretty good Cantonese. I suspect one of the requirements for them to work here is to attain a certain level in the local lingo.
Well, anyway here is what looks to be their Shatin HQ. It was built in 1991 and looks like it was painted yesterday (who knows, it might’ve been).

Amazing, I cycle past here (slowly, it’s quite a steep hill) several times a week, and frequently marvel at the desolation. I did one see through a window, several shadowy grey seated figures round a desk, none moving…

hello Kate – wow you actually managed to sneak a peek? I reckon that was the chip-implanting ceremony you witnessed. Had you stuck around you would have witnessed the ending of the ceremony which involves being given a really bad haircut and then issued with a small black backpack and matching polyester suit.

Oh so this is what this building is for… I have often wondered about it too!
These folks put us evangelicals to shame cos we don’t usually speak the local lingo! Cheerios Phil!

hehe – I have some Catholic stuff coming up soon as well. Once done I can lend you the book Dr Hase gave to me. It will cost you a beer (or coffee) though
